Breaking into the Ghana music scene a bit over two years ago, no one even imagined the inpact he was going to make with his music. Now, Sarkodie has become a hallmark name in Ghanaian music, building up great expectation, anxiety and musical satisfaction just at the mention of his name.
For the past year, Ghana has seen a lot of his musical flawlessness on display. Performing at a lot of major shows and releasing a number of bangers, of which the most if popular is "U go Kill Me' ft EL. He has recently won two awards, for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Editing. Also, he has won the nod for Cotemporary Hip-Hop Artiste of the year last weekend at the Maiden Hip-Hop & RnB Awards.
Expanding his horizon, he embarked on a US tour. Performing in Ohio, New York City, New Jersey, Hollywood, Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver - Colorado, Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. So impressive and successful was the tour that his UK fans also demanded his to have him. With no option than to deliver, he gave in to their deman.
The U.K Azonto tour kicked off on 25th November, beginning with London's CAPE BAR, then onto Birmingham, Leicester, Luton, Milton Keynes and Manchester. Sarkodie, also exclusively recorded with Chipmunks, Donaeo and Wretch 32, and already shot a video for the one with Donaeo. The raper did the remix of "U go kill Me" with Eddie Kadi, Donaeo and Wretch 32. Making history again, he was on the Westwood Radio Show, on BBC1 Xtra with Tim Westwood as the first Ghanaian to be there! He is now back home to launch that much awaited and most anticipated 2011 album - RAPPERHOLIC!
Already releasing in 2010 his first album, MAKYE, a 12 track album with songs like The Altar Mixtape, Push, Chat with You ft JaySo, Lay Away ft Sway and JaySo, Move ft Kwaw Kee, Borga ft J-Town, Baby ft Mugeez, Odo Dome ft Ntonto, Edey Bee ft PaeDae, Listen ft Gemini and Twi Lessons. He has released a few tracks of the new album : "Onyame Nhyira" ft Castro, "Living Legend" ft Kese, "U go kill me' ft EL, "One Time For Your Mind" and "Good Bye" ft Mugeez of R2Bees.
Landing heavy endorsements from Akon's Konvict Music this last year he has enjoyed a good time since his entrance. Sarkodie has been crowned King of Azonto music, with his trademark haircut. The azonto rave has gone worldwide, even finding a spot on wikipedia (world wide web) with credit to his name : READ!
